A Leader in Thurrock

We want leaders who understand how to make change happen, who recognise and value political leadership, and who want to help shape and achieve the best future for Thurrock. A collaboration between a high-performing managerial leadership team working in partnership with Elected Members is our formula for success.

  • We’re seeking a forward-looking individual to design and deliver a dynamic and innovative digital vision for Thurrock Council. Sitting within the Corporate Services Directorate, our new Assistant Director Digital and Customer Services will be the most senior person within Digital and Customer Services – and will champion the huge potential of digital infrastructure to deliver for both the council and our residents.

Working with a Head of IT, Head of Customer, Head of Digital and ICT, and Head of Information, you’ll be responsible for a wide-ranging remit of services including Customer, Digital, Contact Centres, FOI, Complaints, Information, Management and Registrars. This is a fantastic opportunity to refresh and modernise our existing digital offering, while simultaneously balancing the needs of more traditionally minded members.

  • A behavioural change piece is needed across the organisation, and you’ll be central to showcasing the benefits of a new and revitalised approach for both residents, staff and members. You’ll also investigate new and exciting digital opportunities around robotic process automation, AI and cyber security.

The successful candidate will have the strong digital experience and expertise to take on the full remit of the role, which includes building the Digital Strategy, progressing the CRM system and single data platform, and driving digital transformation by design across a range of services.
