A Leader in Thurrock

We want leaders who understand how to make change happen, who recognise and value political leadership, and who want to help shape and achieve the best future for Thurrock. A collaboration between a high-performing managerial leadership team working in partnership with Elected Members is our formula for success.

  • We’re seeking an innovative Assistant Director Strategy, Performance and Partnerships to sit within the newly created Assistant Chief Executive (ACE) Directorate. As this is a brand new role, you’ll have the chance to build and shape a team that’s equipped to facilitate a performance mindset across the Council, both strategically and operationally. This is critical to deliver and embed our new Operating Model and help bring about the transformative change we need at Thurrock.

  • As our new AD Strategy, Performance and Partnerships, you’ll gather business intelligence, build strategic partnerships and develop an in-depth understanding of the council’s commissioning potential. We want Thurrock to be an enabling council – an organisation that doesn’t shy away from change and has the frameworks in place to make things happen. You’ll lead this new approach, building upon the sophisticated Improvement Plan and bringing together previously siloed policies and strategies to create strong and steady performance within the council as a whole.

In particular, we’re looking for a candidate with a strong background in evidence-based performance and robust partnership building, particularly with communities and the private, investment and voluntary sector. This is a brilliant opportunity to drive innovation, improvement and change – and deliver for the residents of Thurrock.
