A Leader in Thurrock

We want leaders who understand how to make change happen, who recognise and value political leadership, and who want to help shape and achieve the best future for Thurrock. A collaboration between a high-performing managerial leadership team working in partnership with Elected Members is our formula for success.

  • Our new Assistant Director of Communication and Engagement will bring together two teams from previously distinct parts of the council to engage communities and communicate our mission and ambitions more effectively. This is a hugely exciting opportunity to shape the narrative around the council’s new direction and engage our residents along the way.

  • At Thurrock, our leadership team places real emphasis and value on communications, recognising its immense power in making change happen – but this needs to be disseminated across the council. As our new AD Communication and Engagement, you’ll help teams across the council communicate what they’re doing both internally and externally as the new corporate plan emerges. Heading up a brand new team, this role will involve setting out a coherent vision, while also identifying the systems and processes that work best to have maximum impact with limited resources.

We’re open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, but you must be a strategic communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. We’re undergoing a period of transition, so you’ll need to be comfortable tackling new challenges and experiences head-on – while maintaining structure and order through exceptional communication and engagement strategies. his is a real opportunity to engage our residents, staff and members to build a better, more transparent, and more inspiring Thurrock for everyone.
