A Leader in Thurrock

We want leaders who understand how to make change happen, who recognise and value political leadership, and who want to help shape and achieve the best future for Thurrock. A collaboration between a high-performing managerial leadership team working in partnership with Elected Members is our formula for success.

  • As our new Assistant Director Financial Management and Procurement, you’ll lead the team to work strategically and develop modern models of financial management. By taking a corporate approach, you will use data and business intelligence to drive better value for money. It will also mean developing and reinvigorating a team that’s faced significant challenges in recent years, rebuilding morale, encouraging professional growth and development, and embedding best practice into the workforce at large.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of local government, and bring significant experience in budgetary and investment management. Beyond your technical skill set, you will bring a positive leadership style. You’ll welcome the intellectual challenge that this role presents, drawing on your technical know-how and strategic expertise to implement wholesale change at Thurrock. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to showcase your capabilities and position yourself for future professional success.
